Stunning double hippeastrums are crossed with our most beautiful singles and partial doubles to create new hybrid plants and flowers.

These seeds will produce blooms in 3-5 years. Many will be double blooms or partial doubles while a large proportion will be single with double bloom genetics.

We’ve created a mixed colour lot of 30, although bulk lots of 100 can be requested.

Hippeastrum blooms make for fantastic cut flowers with a long display life if not pollinated. There are more genetic variations than there are people in the world. Like our own children, hippeastrums carry and display the genetic code of seed parent and pollinating parent. They are exciting to grow and observe, with no ugly blooms among them.

Each pack contains 30 fresh seeds, dried and stored for less than 6 months.

We recommend only trying to germinate these seeds in the warmer months of spring and summer or in a warm, sunny spot inside. You can germinate these seeds by floating on water or planting into potting or seed raising mix and watering well for the first 3 days then maintaining light moisture for the following 3 weeks. Seeds should germinate in two to four weeks, with green stems sprouting from soil in 3-5 weeks. If you have snails, they will eat these fresh stems and eventually kill your seedlings if not treated.

Hippeastrums clump together in your garden and create low maintenance borders or flowering features. Their eye catching, oversized blooms will be the envy of your neighbours and gardening friends. The cut flowers can be brought in for month long dining table displays or plants can be potted up and kept indoors, especially during flowering.
