China Pear Guava – Psidium guajava
What you get – 10 seeds

 

White fleshed guava with exceptional flavour eaten firm or soft. Large-sized pear shape. Trees are ornamental and can be pruned to size making them a versatile addition to small backyards.

As it’s small and evergreen it makes a great edible hedge or screen.
Grows best in the Tropics, and Subtropical
Fruiting from seed at 2 to 3 years of age, in a good sunny position, in neutral ph soil.
Fruits from Summer to Autumn
Small, dwarf, self-pollinating, evergreen shrub with a maximum height of 2m to 5m in good conditions – can be kept pruned to 2m.
Suitable for growing in pots above 35L in size… requires moderate water.
Fruits are large soft and juicy, with a minimum of small seeds around a ball in the center.

Guava seed germination

1) Soak seeds overnight

2) Plant 1/4 inch deep into 50% sand and potting mix fines (sieve if necessary)

3) Keep moist and warm in a sheltered part of the garden

4) Water as normal

5) Have patience

6) Guavas can require and few changes in temp and moisture before they germinate.

Can take until the following spring, but usually have good results even if a little slow.
